Thomas Edward Green, 63, of Grayslake, IL passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 3, 2017.
He was born in Waukegan on March 7, 1953, the seventh child of ten to the late John Jr. and Therese Harrison Green. Thomas graduated from Santa Maria del Popolo (‘68), Carmel Catholic High School (’71), and Regis University, Denver, Colorado (’75). In addition, he received a degree in Computer Programming from CLC, in Grayslake. He married Catherine L. Salemi Green on November 24, 1984 at St. Bede Catholic Church in Ingleside. He has been employed by GATX since 1998, as a Computer Program Analyst. “He was such a caring man; putting others’ feelings and concerns before his own.”- said co worker, Eric F.
Thomas was an avid traveler and loved the outdoors. He was also an accomplished ballroom dancer and square dancer. All eyes were drawn to Thomas and Catherine when they danced together. He had a deep connection with Christ and was the leader of the St. Gilbert’s Archangel Prayer Group. Thomas was a wonderful, loving, gentle, faith-filled man who loved his family and went out of his way to help anyone in need. He had a calm presence when he entered the room, but was always up for a laugh. We have faith that Thomas is safely home with Jesus in Heaven having a wild party and causing shenanigans with family and friends.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 33 years, Catherine Salemi Green and his beloved children; Josette (Anthony) Fillipp, Daniel Green, and Catrina (Salvatore F. Cecala) Green his cherished grandsons; Nicholas, Ethan, Oliver, and Beaumont Fillipp his nine siblings; John (Carol) Green III, Therese Green, Beatrice (Jeffrey) Hahn, Barbara (Michael) Sieman, Joseph Green, Richard (Susan) Green, Robert Green , Mike Green, David Green, and his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Therese Green, and infant sister Mary Green.
