Anne Theresa Zitkovich passed away on July 3, 2017. She was 91 years old. May she rest in peace.
The seventh of eight children, Anne grew up in the 1930s and ‘40s on the outskirts of Chicago, where her father farmed what is now suburban Burr Ridge and Hinsdale. The family had 8 acres of its own, several barn animals and a kitchen garden. She was the daughter of Croatian immigrants, Stephen and Anna Zitkovich, who left their native land for America before the outbreak of WWI. Five of her siblings served in WWII, and one, the youngest, served in the Korean War.
She was a graduate of Loyola University with a B.S. in Sociology, and later of Rosary College with a Masters in Library and Information Science. Anne went on to become a librarian for the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, Northwestern University Law Library, Swedish Covenant Hospital, and the National Safety Council. She lived in Evanston most of her adult life and spent the last eight years at Aperion Care in Highwood, Illinois.
An interment chapel service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 10:00 A.M. at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois Pastor John Bell, officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery.
