of Heather Ridge Gurnee and Cocoa Beach, Fla., passed away Nov. 23, 2012, when God ended his battle with cancer. Like everything he did, he fought this battle and exceeded every doctors expectations. Born Dec. 10, 1951, in Chicago, to Josephine and Eugene Baczek, Jan and his wife were owners of AJ’s Bar in Round Lake Park where his customers became his best friends. They also started the Jandrea Corporation and at one time owned Five Jandee Salons, also raising six children and were members of St. Gilbert’s Parish for 34 years. Jan’s pleasures were his family, children, grandchildren, Northwestern football, the White Sox, competitive pool, owning race horses, hunting, fishing, and AJ’s friends. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Baczek (nee Thompson) of Gurnee; and children, William Baczek of Round Lake Park, Dennise (John) Porter of Lindenhurst, Deanna (Pete) Kratochivil of Lindenhurst, Todd (Trish) Baczek of Green Oaks, Jan Baczek of Des Plaines and Elizabeth Baczek of Gurnee. He was the loving grandfather of 12, J.J., Karsyn, Bella, Desiree, Andrea, Shamus, Briar, Chase, Grace, Caleb, William and Bailee; and is also survived by his sister, Judy (Keith) Olsen; cousin, Denise (Gary) Nawrocki of Fox Lake; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home, 111 West Belvidere Road, Grayslake. The funeral service will begin with prayers at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, proceeding to St Gilberts Church for 11 a.m. Mass.
