age 72 of Chicago, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 22, 2013 doing what she was passionate about, arranging flowers. Carmen was born in Mexico on August 29, 1941 to the union of Arturo and Carmen (Gallaga) Olivares. She immigrated to the United States from Mexico in 1955 and settled in Chicago where she married George Soberon in 1962. Carmen was the owner of Logan Square Floral Shop in the 1970s and 1980s. After she closed the shop she freelanced as a floral designer at Beu’s Flower Shop and was currently a designer at Aberdeens Wedding Florist, Chicago.
She was a diva at heart, a woman that would light up a room with her presence and would be the life of the party, which she had probably decorated for.
She is survived by her son George Jr. and granddaughter Nina, both of Chicago, her brother Isaac Olivares of Morelia, Mexico and sister Grace Olivares of San Diego, California. She is preceded in death by her son Isaac on June 25, 1998, her brother Arturo, and her parents Arturo Olivares and Carmen nee Gallaga Oliveres.
