September 1, 1935 – October 10, 2017
Daniel Mehedinti was born on September 1st, 1935 in Costachi Negri, Romania to Iordache and Dumitra Mehedinti. At the age of 16, Daniel moved to Galati to become a mechanic and welder. He served 3 years in the Romanian Army then accepted a position with Combinatul Siderurgie in Galati where he worked for 20+ years. He also worked as a photographer and developer, filming weddings, funerals, schools and various events in support of his local community.
On January 19, 1964, he married Ioana Rusin at the Galati Penticostal Church. They began their family and after a 10-year application process the family immigrated to the United States on December 21, 1988 to Chicago. Daniel continued to support his family through his retirement years and enjoyed many activities including fishing and spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
In 2015 he felt God’s calling to raise money to build a church in Frumusita, Romania. He played an active role over the next two years in driving contributions and onsite visits to oversee construction. The project is currently in progress and is actively welcoming donations.
Daniel passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 while fishing…an activity he greatly enjoyed.
