Janet Wade (nee Steele), 64, of Grayslake, died at home on January 19, 2019, from injuries suffered in a fall. She was born July 24, 1954, in Michigan City, Indiana, and lived her entire life in the Chicagoland area.
Janet was the beloved wife of Patrick Wade, who died just less than a year ago from lung cancer. Their life together was full and centered around Grayslake and Racine Yacht Club friends. The loss of Pat – the man who always referred to her as “the lovely Janet Marie” and often said he would marry her all over again – left a huge hole in her life she was doing her best to fill. There is comfort in the thought she is with him now. Jan’s work life was as a dental hygienist and as a bookkeeper for her family’s business. In recent years, she got fulfillment from volunteering at The Chapel-Grayslake food bank.
Janet is survived by her father, George Steele; brothers Tom (Sue), Mark (Ruth), and Mike; and nieces and nephews Katy, Ben, Greg, Brandon, Erin, Eric, and Ryan. In addition to Patrick, she was preceded in death by her mother, Aileen Steele (nee Miller).
Visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019, at The Chapel-Grayslake, 25270 W IL Route 60, Grayslake, IL 60030. Visitation is 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. The memorial service is at 11:00 AM.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home of Grayslake, IL for additional information please contact the funeral home 847-543-1080.
The family asks that memorials be made to support Janet’s volunteer efforts at the food bank c/o The Chapel/Community Care Center, 1200 American Way, Libertyville, IL 60048.
