Leo P. DeRocco, 77, of Homer, IL passed away the morning of May 27, 2017 in Urbana, IL.
Leo was born to Giuseppe and Giovanna (Vieceli) DeRocco on December 22, 1939 in Highland Park, IL. He is survived by his sister, Margaret of Ponce, PR.
On November 27, 1965 Leo married Diane (Owens) DeRocco (who passed away in March of 2016) in Chicago. Leo is survived by their two children, Kelly DeRocco of Homer, IL and Dan DeRocco (Grazia) of Newton, MA. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Matteo, 16 and Giulia, 14 also of Newton, MA.
Leo graduated from New Trier H.S. in 1957 and was honorably discharged from the USMC in 1963. He worked in appliance service and repair for Advance Refrigeration until he retired, at the age of 65, to his farmette in Homer, IL where he began pursuing farm toy collecting full time. Leo was also very active in the Highland Park Jaycees and was given lifetime membership as a JCI Senator.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral mass 10:00 A.M. at St James Catholic Church, 134 North Ave, Highwood, IL. Interment and military honors will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL
