Robert Allen Prigge, 70, of Gurnee, IL passed away peacefully after a 15-year battle with prostate cancer on Thursday, August 17, 2017. A lifelong Chicagoan, Bob was the son of Walter Ernest and Myrtle Loretta Johnson Prigge and attended Maryville Academy in Des Plaines, IL. After living in the city of Chicago, Bob moved to the north suburbs where he lived with his cherished wife of 35 years, Mary Jo. Bob had enjoyed good health coming into this year and was able to attend his youngest daughter’s wedding earlier this summer.
Bob was a passionate volunteer and spent much of his time coaching basketball, but most of all enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a lifelong White Sox fan, an avid golfer, and could often be found sharing stories and entertaining anyone in his company; but his children say he always worked to put family first. Bob was fortunate to be a member of a large and loving extended family.
Bob leaves his wife, Mary Jo Prigge nee; Steiner, his children; Robert Prigge Jr. of Barrington, IL, Martin (Cindy), Prigge of Pooler, GA, Kristina (Jeffrey) Stolzenburg of Grayslake, IL, Brad (Michelle) Prigge of Volo, IL, and Danielle (Philippe) Prigge-Blais of Chicago, IL, grandchildren; Casey, Madison, Michael, Lauren, Megan, Abbie, Bradley, and Blake as well as 5 gr. grandchildren; brother Raymond (Barbara) Prigge of Mt. Prospect, IL, brother-in-law Joseph James “Mel” III (Julia) Steiner of Grayslake, IL, his loving mother-in-law Marianne Steiner of Grayslake, IL, daughter-in-law Peggy Prigge of Barrington, IL, as well as many nieces, nephews, and his 8-K cousins from Lansing, IA. Bob was predeceased by his parents; Walter and Myrtle Prigge, and siblings; Richard, Shirley, and Walter Prigge.
Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home 111 W. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL and 9:00 AM to 11:00am Monday, August 21, 2017 at the funeral home, chapel service at 11:00 AM Fr.
