Willard “Bill” Karr Davidson, 76, passed away peacefully April 20, 2018 in Fort Myers, Florida with his family at his side. Bill was born in Saginaw, Michigan and often said he had led a great and interesting life. Bill resided in Gurnee, IL before retiring full time in North Fort Myers.
Bill enjoyed a full and vibrant life. He traveled the world with the Navy before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He served on board ships during Cuban Missile Crisis, the Congo wars, and was a proud Vietnam veteran. Much of his career was spent attached to Destroyer ships stationed in San Diego and Guam with shore duty assignments in San Bernardino, CA and Great Lakes, IL. An SIU graduate, he taught electronics at Lake County College before joining Allstate and founding the successful Davidson Agency in Lake County, Illinois. He served as President of the Lake County Association of Life Underwriters and leadership roles within the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors Lake County Chapter. Known for his quick wit and magnetic personality, Bill loved fishing, boating, and travel.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Willard Karr Davidson and Helen Irene Henderson Davidson Parsons. Bill will be sadly missed by his two beloved daughters, Dawn Davidson-Ritacca (Daniel) of Lake Forest, IL and Diana Kiesler (Thomas) of Gurnee, IL; four granddaughters Kaitlyn, Lauren, and Morgan Kiesler and Maria Ritacca; His much loved lifemate, Patricia Elkin of North Fort Myers, FL, and an extended family including Bethany and Blythe Elkin, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dozens of dear friends of all ages.
Visitation 4pm-8pm Thursday April 26, 2018, funeral 11:00 am Friday April 27, 2018 at Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood, Il 60040, followed by interment and military honors at Fort Sheridan Post Cemetery, Highwood, Illinois.
