WILLIAM “BILL” EDWARD ENZENBACHER, Jr.

William Edward Enzenbacher Jr. passed away at 5:58 pm on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at the Capt. James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, IL. Bill was born in Downers Grove, IL on December 21, 1948 to William Edward Sr. and Betty Jane (Nee Lange) Enzenbacher. He graduated from Main West High School in Des Plains in 1967 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a proud Vietnam combat marine veteran. After serving his tour in the Marines Bill attended William Rainey Harper College on the GI bill. This is where he met the love of his life, Linda Leah Landers. On July 6th, 1970, they married in Mobile AL. They were blessed with two handsome boys, Tim in 1974 and Billy in 1977.   Bill earned his Associate’s degree in Law Enforcement graduating from the College of Lake County. He was employed at various police departments during his Law Enforcement career starting in Tower Lakes and on to Vernon Hills, Lindenhurst and ending as a detective sergeant for Great Lake Police Department retiring after 20 years.   He was a loyal Cub’s fan and was thrilled to have witnessed when they won the World Series. He also loved da Bears and spent many Sundays groaning and moaning. Bill liked to travel in his little sports car and especially loved spending time in Door County with his long-time buddies from grade school. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. He also made many lasting friends at the Lovell Federal Health Care Center (his brothers in arms) where he resided since 2011. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, son Timothy (Amanda) and Billy, grandchildren: Zoe, Scarlett and Madison, father, William, brothers: Ron (Kathy) and Karl Enzenbacher, sister Karen Dobson, brother in-law, Theodore Landers (Linda), sister-in-law Bette Amato and Charlene Landers also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Betty, father-in-law Clark Landers, mother-in-law Elizabeth (nee Demeron) Landers. Brother-in-laws: Edward Landers (Charlene) and Clark Landers Jr. Services will be held at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home, 111 W. Belvedere Rd. (Rt.120), Grayslake, IL. on Thursday November 30th from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. Military honors will be at 3:30 pm. Cremation rites will be performed and internment will be at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. The family of William also want to thank all the staff at the Capt. James A.
