Frank Pope, Jr. 93, of Lake Bluff, Illinois passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, North Chicago, IL, he was born October 21, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Francois and Antoinette Pope. He was a graduate of Calumet High School, class of 1943. A WWII Veteran he served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1945 in the South Pacific Theater. After the war he attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier. Frank did the research, taught and co-authored the Antoinette and Francois Pope School Cook Book, with over one million copies sold. Frank, his brother Robert and father Francois were the principal celebrities of the Creative Cookery TV Show originating in Chicago, running 14 years on ABC and voted most popular TV show in the Chicago market. He was a gourmet teacher at Antionette Pope School of Fancy Cookery which started on the South Side of Chicago and later moved to North Michigan Avenue, the school closed in 1971 upon the death of his father Francois. He was the President of Barnaby’s Family Restaurants Chain of 40 restaurants thru out the United States (14 in Illinois). He was also the owner and partner of Really Pop N Flavors Popcorn Chain and Artichoke Restaurant.
