Lorraine Claire Godawa, 80, of Grayslake, IL, passed away peacefully and painlessly on November 5, 2016, at Bickford Assisted Living and Memory Care. She was born February 23, 1936, in Chicago, IL, to the union of Peter and Anne Klug, Lorraine was a strong advocate for the handicapped and disadvantaged, she worked for Clearbrook School for people with disabilities in her early years. A strong proponent of political involvement, Lorraine also worked tirelessly for family values, the Right to Life and other patriotic causes. Her successful career in real estate began after her most challenging assignment in life was completed, the raising of her three children resulting from her union with her husband, Erwin “Joe.”
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Erwin J. Godawa; her three children, Michael, Cynthia, and Brian (Kim); her three grandchildren, Dana (William) Martin, Travis (Rachel) Godawa, and Sarah (Jacob) Christoforakis; her five great-grandchildren; Skylar Martin, Lance Martin, Levi Godawa, Niko Christoforakis, and Luke Godawa, Lorraine is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and drew close to her at every opportunity, she is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Anne Klug, her brother; Robert Klug, and sisters; Dorothy, LaVerne and Judith.
