Alfreda D. Rommel passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, January 26, 2026. Alfreda was born on November 5, 1937, in Bicknell, Indiana. Beloved wife of the late Robert Rommel. Cherished Mother of Brenda, Lewis, and Teresa. Adored grandmother of Rodolfo, Randall (Elvia), Alana (Aaron), Ryan, Ricardo, and Alicia (Joshua). Treasured great-grandmother of Nathaniel, Midna, and Riley. Daughter of the late Laura and Delvin Hardesty and sibling to the late Judy and Harry. Alfreda lived a full life, including serving as a Boy and Girl Scout leader, operating the Irving Park Soup Kitchen for 15 years, fundraising for the local food pantry, volunteering at Christian Churches Carrying, and serving on the board of the Portage Park Senior Center. Deeply devoted to her faith, family, and friends. Alfreda’s legacy is one of kindness, love, and generosity to everyone she knows and meets. Many will feel her absence but will be comforted by knowing they had the good fortune to have such a wonderful person in their lives.
Visitation Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Mount Olive Church, 3850 N. Tripp in Chicago, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with service at 7:00 PM.
