Stanley Joseph Hickory, Jr., 88, of Lake Bluff, IL., died of natural causes on May 28, 2020 in Chicago, IL.
Stanley was born in October, 1931 in Evanston, IL., to Stanley Joseph Hickory and Emma (Berndt) Hickory Burke. Stanley grew up in Chicago and attended Sullivan High School. Following his service as a pilot in the United States Air Force, he graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelors in Business Administration. After many positions within the elevator and engineering industry, he retired in his early 80’s from his government position as an elevator equipment specialist and consultant.
Stanley moved to Lake Bluff, IL., with his wife and 3 children in 1976 and was an active member of the community serving as a volunteer firefighter and later as a member of the library board. He was also a life member of the Lake Bluff/Lake Forest American Legion.
Stanley is survived by his former wife and forever friend Arlene Hickory, children Stanley (Amber), Jenny (Gregory Kerrigan), Amy (Jonathan Gerbie), 9 grandchildren, and sister Emma Carnett.
Visitation will be held Friday, June, 19th, at Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Rd., Highwood Il., between 9:00 – 10:00 am. Interment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
